Najaf, Feb 18, IRNA - First Vice-President Es'haq Jahangiri on Wednesday conferred with Iraqi religious leader Ayatollah Sistani on regional developments and sufferings of the Muslims worldwide.
Jahangiri exchanged views on most important issues about Iran and Iraq.
Speaking to reporters outside of Ayatollah Sistani house, he said that he briefed Ayatollah Sistani on latest developments on expansion of relations and cooperation between Iran and Iraq.
Various issues such as bolstering unity between Shia and Sunni Muslims, vital need to fight with extremism and deviations were the topics discussed in the meeting, Jahangiri said.
Referring to regional developments, he said they also exchanged views on regional issues and fight with terrorism in Syria and Iraq.
Jahangiri praised the historical role of Ayatollah Sistani to help mobilize the Iraqi young population to fight terrorism and Daesh takfiri terrorist group, in particular.
Fall of oil prices was the other topic of discussion and the two sides examines various avenues to broaden mutual cooperation, he said.
'I also conveyed the greetings of the Supreme Leader to Ayatollah Sistani and he conveyed his regards to the Iranian Supreme Lleader and President Rouhani,' he said.
Jahangiri is expected to wind up his visit to Iraq later in the day.
