Foreign Minister arrives in Minsk

zarif travel arrivalMoscow, Feb 17, IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Minsk on Monday evening for a two-day visit to Belarus.

According to a statement released by Belarus Foreign Ministry, Zarif is visiting Minsk at the invitation of his Belarus counterpart Vladimir Makei.

Meetings with Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobiakov, Chairman of Republic Council in Belarus Natioanl Assembly Mikhail Myasnikovich, and Foreign Minister Makei are on the agenda of Zarif's visit to Minsk.

The statement says the two sides will discuss major international issues, ways of coordinating the two countries' stances in the world organizations, and development of bilateral relations.

Zarif will also inaugurate the new building of Iran's embassy in Minsk and participate in a ceremony to mark the 36th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

Zarif's visit to Minsk is a response to Makei's trip to Tehran in December.

Iran and Belarus have friendly relations and cooperate in different political, economic, industrial, trade, and investment affairs.

The two countries have close viewpoints in major issues especially opposition to the West's unilateralism in international affairs.
