Former Secretary of StateMadeleine Albright became the latest Democratic voice today to take issue with Israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahus upcoming address to Congress. Netanyahu was invited by SpeakerJohn Boehnerwithout consultation of the White House, and several Democrats have indicated theyre boycotting the speech as a result.
Netanyahu hasrepeatedly insistedhis speech is more important that some political fighting over protocol, and assured that hes not speaking because he wantsa confrontation withPresident Obama.
But as far as Albrights concerned, he is interfering in our internal affairs. She explained toAndrea Mitchell, I dont want to interfere in Israeli internal affairs. But it strikes me that theres an awful lot going on in his neighborhood, in the Middle East, and thats where he should be.
