Iran's FM Zarif starts tour of Africa

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation, started a tour of Africa on Sunday.
In his African tour, Zarif is scheduled to pay visits to Kenya, Uganda, Burundi and Tanzania to strengthen bilateral ties between Islamic Republic of Iran and the east African states.

Irans Foreign Minister is accompanied by a political and economic delegation.

Expansion of relations with African countries in all political, economic and cultural fields is a matter of prime importance in Iranian foreign policy agenda.

Last month, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for African and Middle Eastern Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian highlighted the importance of Africa and the African Union in Irans foreign policy.

The Islamic Republic of Iran attaches significance to cooperation with the African Union, especially the AUs Commission for Human Resources, Science and Technology, Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with Paul Martial Ikunga, African Union Commissioner for Human Resources, Science and Technology.

He added that despite pressures and sanctions imposed by hegemonic powers, Iran has achieved great capabilities in the fields of human resources, science and technology and is prepared to have comprehensive cooperation with African countries in these areas.
