Tehran, Jan 29, IRNA - Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a message on Thursday congratulated his Afghan counterpart Salahuddin Rabbani on gainng the vote of confidence from Afghanistan's National Assembly.
In his message, the foreign minister expressed confidence that expansion of Iran-Afghanistan relations at mutual, regional and international levels would serve the interests of both nations and safeguard the security and tranquility in the region.
Meanwhile, Iran Foreign Ministry on Wednesday hailed Afghanistan Parliaments vote of confidence for the countrys new cabinet noting it would lead to formation of national solidarity government.
Afghan lawmakers approved only nine of President Ashraf Ghani's Cabinet nominations in secret balloting Wednesday before going on a six-week recess.
Wednesdays voting came after two weeks of controversy that caused several changes to the 25-member Cabinet initially proposed by Ghani's government.
Releasing a statement on Wednesday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said the move of the Afghanistans Parliament was a step forward towards formation of the national solidarity government in that country.
