Istanbul, Jan 21, IRNA Iran Parliament Speaker Ali larijani said the democratic Iraq now resolves issues by relying on only its own people.
In a meeting with Iraqi counterpart Salim al-Jabouri here on Wednesday evening, he said now all problems and crises in Iraq were settled by its own people.
He stressed that Iran will always stand by Iraqi nation in confronting terrorism and also support Iraqs territorial integrity.
He further stressed the need for Iran and Iraq to upgrade their relations to new levels.
The Iraqi official said meetings of this kind provided chances for both countries to expand bilateral cooperation.
He said the committees set by the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union (IIPU) have already become operational in Iraq in certain areas.
He said his country seeks to host the next session of the IIPU.
He noted that Iran and Iraq both have always condemned terrorism and tried to confront its very roots.
Larijani also met with the Turkish president and his counterparts from Malaysia, Pakistan, Uganda, Jordan and Lebanon today.
The Iranian Speaker is in Istanbul to the 10th Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union (IIPU) session which opened here on Wednesday.
Several high-ranking local officials including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the representatives from 53 IIPU member and 22 observer countries are attending the two-day event.
He also conferred with IIPU parliament speakers including Turkey, Kuwait, Oman, Bangladesh and Yemen on issues of mutual interest and expansion of parliamentary cooperation.
