TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said progress has been made in the ongoing talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, France and Britain plus Germany).
"We have taken steps forward, but of course we are prepared for different scenarios in this regard," Larijani said in a meeting with Iranians residing in Istanbul on Tuesday night.

He underlined that the positive outcome of the nuclear talks can pave the way for the further cooperation between Iran and other countries.

The Iranian parliament speaker pointed to the status quo in Iran-Turkey relations, and said, "I have had constructive talks with the Turkish parliament speaker that can result in the improvement of economic and political relations between the two countries."

He referred to the presence of Iranian university students in Turkey, and said, "The Iranian university students play an effective role in the establishment of scientific relations between Iran and Turkey."

The Iranian parliament speaker reiterated that Iran and Turkey share mutual understanding, and said, "We will try to boost the two countries' trade relations."

The 10th round of negotiations between Iran and the six world powers was held in Vienna from November 18 to 24, where the seven nations decided to extend the talks until July after they failed to strike an agreement.

The latest round of the nuclear talks between the two sides was held at the level of deputy foreign ministers in Geneva, Switzerland, on January 18.

The two sides decided to continue their talk early in February.

Both Iran and the G5+1 negotiators have underlined that cutting a final deal before the July 10 deadline is possible.

Iran and Turkey have been pursuing increasing widening of their ties in various fields in the last two decades. Iran is a main energy supplier to Turkey and Ankara has made huge investments in Iran.

Iran is a main destination of Turkish goods and Turkey is among the top destinations of Iranian tourists and traders.

The two states plan to multiply their trade transactions in the next few years.
