TEHRAN (Tasnim) Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday offered condolences over the death of prominent Iranian poet Moshfeq Kashani.
In a letter on Tuesday, Ayatollah Khamenei offered condolences to the family of the deceased, his students, fans and the Iranian literature and poem community.
The Leader praised Kashani for his pleasant and eloquent poems, his character and his commitment to the causes of the Islamic Revolution.
Moshfeq Kashani, 89, was laid to rest in the artists' block of Behesht-e-Zahra cemetery in southern Tehran on Tuesday.
A number of Iranian literary, academic and political figures along with people from different walks of life took part in the funeral procession.
The famous poet passed away on Sunday in a hospital in Tehran after a heart attack.
Born as Abbas Kaymanesh in the central Iranian city of Kashan, he began writing under the penname Moshfeq Kashani.
"Sound of Sadness", Ballade of Life, Memoires, Wine of Sun, Lightening, Mirror of Imagination, Red Spring of Ballade, and The Mystery of Winter are among his collections of poems and books.
