Beirut, Jan 16, IRNA Iran and Lebanon signed agreements to cooperate on environmental protection issues.
Chancellor of the Iranian University of Environment Asghar Mohammadi Fazel signed the agreement with his counterpart from Lebanon University Adnan al-Sayyed Hussein to carry out mutual projects including offering expert training courses.
The Lebanese official said cooperation between the two universities started many years ago.
He pointed to the numerous cooperation agreements signed between academic and research centers from both countries like exchange of university students and scholars.
According to the official, the agreement is valid for 5 years but could be extended.
Fazel said the visit of the Iranian delegation to Lebanon aimed at boosting cooperation between Iran and Lebanese research and academic centers.
He stressed that Irans achievements came despite of imposed sanctions which restrict Irans independence and economy.
He further noted that Iran will never yield to pressures and voiced readiness to transfer experiences of the Iranian university research and scholarly circles to Lebanon.
