TEHRAN, Jan. 14 (MNA) Iranian Institute of Human Sciences is to expand cultural ties with neighboring countries by promoting the field of humanities.Cultural deputy of Iranian Institute of Human Sciences Ashraf Boroujerdi informed Mehr News of the visit of Yerevan State University (YSU) rector Aram Simonyan to Tehran, adding the aim of his visit as well as the commissioning of Caucasus Studies and Armenian Research Desk at our institute is to boost cultural and scientific interactions with our friends in the region.
We feel the need for a complete integration on cultural issues among regional countries; thereby, these kinds of programs serve as an introduction to develop cultural activities among countries in the region, she said.
Boroujerdi discussed the current status of humanities in Iran and said, today we have the utmost attention given to the field of humanities. There was a period in which human sciences was sourly neglected in our country and we realized this neglect would not be in the interests of our science and society today and in the future.
We are currently reviewing the status of the humanities in Irans scientific circle, she said.
Boroujerdi also referred to the institutes future programs in regard to developing relations with other countries on human sciences, adding the institutes previous meeting was in Kazakhstan, and today we are hosting Armenias State University. We will also hold meetings with Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan in the near future to promote humanities.
