TEHRAN Jan 13(Shana)--The government welcomes investment in renewable energies, managing-director of Iranian Renewable Energies Organization said.
The government supports investment in the renewable energy sector and welcomes the presence of the private sector in this field, Yousef Armodeli said.
He said that the share of renewable energies in energy generation stands at a very low level and that more efforts are needed to be undertaken for increasing this share. Armodeli said generation of 300 million kwh of electricity from renewable energies can save Iran 100 mcm or 100 ml of gasoil a year.
Due to its geographical and geological position, Iran enjoys enormous potentials for production of different sorts of renewable energies, including geothermal, solar and wind power. The country seeks to gradually shift its energy consumption toward renewable resources in a bid to derive the remarkable economic benefits of the sector and tackle its growing environmental issues.
