Tehran, Jan 13, IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Tuesday that Europe can play a more active role in Iran-G5+1 nuclear talks so that a comprehensive agreement would be achieved between the two sides.
Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with new Greek Ambassador to Tehran Giorgos Ginatis who handed over a copy of his credentials to the Iranian minister.
During the meeting, Zarif stressed the need for promotion of Tehran-Athens cooperation, particularly in the areas of culture and tourism.
There are many potentials as well as political will by both sides to boost bilateral cooperation, said the Iranian minister.
Commenting on January terrorist shootings in Paris which left 12 dead, Zarif said Europe should examine the real causes of violence and extremism as a serious challenge.
He stressed that cooperating with major countries in the Middle East region would help Europe find a better understanding of the common threats of extremism.
The Greek diplomat, for his part, welcomed deepening of Tehran-Athens relations and expressed hope bilateral ties would promote in all fields.
