Envoy: German private sector eyeing Iran's market

TEHRAN (FNA)- German Ambassador to Tehran Michael Freiherr von Ungern-Sternberg in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Economy Minister Mohammad Khazayee in Tehran on Tuesday underlined the willingness of his country's private sector to broaden economic and trade ties with Iran.
"The German private sector is willing to expand its economic and trade activities in Iran," the German ambassador said during the meeting.

Ungern-Sternberg hoped for the further expansion of Iran-Germany relations, and said, "I hope that Iranian and German industrialists and entrepreneurs could make use of the abundant economic potentials in Iran and Germany."

The Iranian deputy economy minister, for his part, pointed to the status quo of Iran-Germany relations, and said, "The two countries' economic activists have had growing ties, specially in the past 100 years."

He noted that Iranian industrialist and businessmen have paid special attention to the German industries and technologies in the past century, and hoped that the same trend would continue in future.

Germany is an important trade partner of Iran. Iran and Germany have tried to expand their bilateral relations in recent years through reciprocal visits by the two countries officials.
