Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan[/caption]TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan underlined that enemies' attempts to spread Iranophobia and Islamophobia has and will prove futile.
"During the nuclear negotiations with the six world powers, 5 of whom are permanent members of the UN Security Council, Iran defended its rights with a strong logic, clear rationale, power and honor and undoubtedly, the great Iranian nation will be the final winner on this scene," Dehqan said, addressing Iranian university students in Tehran on Tuesday.
"The cruel sanctions and attempts to isolate Iran and spread Islamophobia, Shiitophobia and Iranophobia will be doomed to failure," he added.
Dehqan stressed that today the Iranian nation is at the peak of power and honor, and said this proves that all such plots have failed.
In relevant remarks earlier this month, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also expressed pleasure that the plots to promote Iranophobia are proving futile following the country's efforts to foil enemies' plans and negative propaganda.
"Iranophobia has decreased now compared with the last few years. They (the enemies) had launched a propaganda campaign to show Iran and Islam as the symbols of violence, but all countries have now voted for (Iran's) plan to create a world without violence and extremism," Rouhani said in a meeting with senior clerics and seminary students in the Northern province of Golestan.
He also announced Iran's plans to hold a major conference on fighting violence and extremism, and said, "Holding the conference will be a great honor for Iran."
On September 25, 2013, President Rouhani proposed "the WAVE" initiative in his address to the UN General Assembly meeting in New York.
On December 18, 2013, the UN General Assembly overwhelmingly voted to approve President Rouhanis proposal, which called on all nations across the globe to denounce violence and extremism.
On December 20, 2013, Iran offered to host an international conference on UN resolution adopted based on President Rouhanis WAVE initiative which is now being held in Tehran.
