TEHRAN (FNA)- Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Samuel Santos Lopez is to arrive in Iran on Sunday night to attend the World Against Extremism and Violence (WAVE) Conference, and meantime, confer with the country's senior officials on the promotion of Tehran-Managua all-out ties.
Lopez, who will head a high-ranking delegation during his stay in Tehran, would meet with Iranian officials including his counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif todiscuss bilateral, regional and international issues.
He has already visited Iran in September.
Lopez would leave for Nicaragua Wednesday night.
Last week, High-ranking Iranian and Nicaraguan parliamentary officials in a meeting in Managua conferred on ways to further develop bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting was held between Nicaragua National Assembly Speaker Rene Nunez Tellez and Chairman of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi.
Iran has been seeking to boost its ties with Latin American countries in recent years to the concern of the United States.
The WAVE conference is to be held on December 9-10.
On September 25, 2013, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani proposed the WAVE initiative in his address to the UN General Assembly meeting in New York.
On December 18, 2013, the UN General Assembly overwhelmingly voted to approve President Rouhanis proposal, which called on all nations across the globe to denounce violence and extremism.
On December 20, 2013, Iran offered to host an international conference on UN resolution adopted based on President Rouhanis WAVE initiative.
