Any solution for Syria must be based on regional reality: Afkham

Tehran, Dec 3, IRNA Senior official at Foreign Ministry urged the need on Wednesday for finding a Syrian way out of the ongoing crisis, stressing that any solution must be based on realities of the region and those inside Syria.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham told reporters at her weekly press conference that Tehran has always been supporting a peaceful solution for the Syrian crisis which should be based on votes of the Syrian nation and negotiation between all Syrian groups and parties.
Referring to 'various views' on putting an end to the ongoing crisis in Syria, Afkham said, 'Tehran believes no solution can be found for the Syrian crisis without knowing the basic roots of its beginning.'

She added that in its 'good and systematic consultations with the UN special envoy for Syria,' Iran has announced its viewpoints on finding a solution to the Syrian crisis.

Referring to Iran's position on the fight against Takfiri and terrorist groups in Iraq including the terrorist group of Daesh (ISIS), Afkham said no change has been made in Iran's policies towards the Takfiri groups and supporting the people and government of Iraq.

She stressed, 'Reports on Iran's military cooperation with other countries to fight against Daesh are not true.'
