TEHRAN (ISNA)- Italy called for bilateral cooperation with Iran in fighting drug trafficking and battling terrorism.
"Fighting drug smuggling and terrorism are fields on which Iran and Italy can work jointly," said President of the Italian Senate Pietro Grasso in a meeting with Secretary of Iran's High Council for Human Rights Mohammad Javad Larijani in Italy.
He also described as 'quite significant' the role of Iran in preventing spread of terrorism in the region, and said fighting terrorism is quite important for Italy.
He also expressed the hope that the two countries can develop bilateral ties in all fields, and noted that Iran is a safe place and a corridor for transfer of human aid.
Larijani, for his part, welcomed Grasso's offer for joint cooperation in fighting terrorism and extremism, and called on speeding up the cooperation under supervision of judicial systems of the two sides.
