OIC chief says ICIM aims to confront Islamophobia, extremism

Isfahan, Dec 2, IRNA - Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani said on Tuesday that the ongoing Islamic Conference of the Information Ministers (ICIM) intends to defy extremism and Islamophobia.
Madani is currently in Iran to attend the 10th ministerial meeting of the ICIM which will be held in the capital Tehran on December 3-4.
ICIM experts meeting kicked off on Monday morning.

Speaking to IRNA before leaving this ancient provincial capital city for Tehran, the OIC chief said another objective of the ICIM meeting is to ease tensions caused by negative propaganda against Islamic states.

Madani added extremist groups are making mounting threats against Islamic states due to the toxic propaganda of anti-Islamic currents on one hand, and spread of the Islamophobia on the other.

The OIC chief urged the need for increasing convergence among Muslim nations to defuse anti-Islam propaganda.
