Iran dismisses Bahraini FM’s remarks as “undiplomatic”
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for African and Middle Eastern Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian rejected the claims raised by Bahraini foreign minister against Iran, saying that political impasse in the tiny island is the reason behind the “undiplomatic” remarks.

“The boycott of the (parliamentary) elections by the opposition, the continuation of crisis and political deadlock in the country and the continuation of ineffective security approaches against people and the opposition… have created a situation that some Bahraini authorities make undiplomatic comments,” Amir Abdollahian said.

In a recent interview with the Financial Times, Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said a “good” agreement with Iran over its nuclear program would be welcomed but sanctions should remain in place if the country did not change its behavior in the region.

He said Persian Gulf states are launching a joint military command based in Saudi Arabia to counter threats from terrorist militants and Iran.

In reply, the Iranian deputy foreign minister pointed to Tehran's stance against terrorism and said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran, by supporting Iraq and Syria, has broken the backbone of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group and is playing the most effective role in fight against terrorism and restoring peace and stability in the region."
