TEHRAN, Dec. 02 (MNA) Reza Dormishians I m Not Angry! was awarded the APSA Academy NETPAC Development Prize at 2014 Asia Pacific Screen Awards.The Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) has announced the winners of two major prizes for 2014 ahead of the 8th APSA ceremony on 11 December: Australian producer Emile Sherman as the recipient of the FIAPF Award for Outstanding Achievement in Film in the Asia Pacific region, and Iranian writer/producer/director Reza Dormishian as the 2014 recipient of the APSA Academy NETPAC Development Prize for his second feature film Asabani Nistam! (Im Not Angry).
In the Best Feature Film category, Asabani Nistam! was competing with Winter Sleep (Turkey, France, Germany), Leviathan (Russian Federation), The Owners (Kazakhstan), and Memories on Stone (Iraqi Kurdistan).
In the eighth edition of APSA, 36 films from 21 Asia Pacific countries and areas are competing for the regions highest award in film. Over 250 films were considered in competition from 42 countries.
The prize is awarded by the 2014 APSA NETPAC Jury, which comprises of Professor Hong-Joon Kim (Republic of Korea), Mohammad Atebbai (Islamic Republic of Iran) and Wang Qun (People s Republic of China).
The NETPAC Jury cited Reza Dormishians Asabani Nistam! (I m Not Angry!) as "a stunning and heart-breaking love story, with convincing characters and settings, proving the talented filmmaker's ability to control all aspects of his film, the image, performances and even editing for a maximum effect".
Iran participated in APSA with five nominees: Im Not Angrydirected byReza Dormishian, running for the Best Feature Film, and Best Performance by an Actor (Navid Mohammadzadeh); Rakhshan BanietemadsTales for the award in the Achievement in Directing; Merila Zareie for Best Performance; and Nima Javidis feature filmMelbourne for Best Screenplay.
The 2014 Asia Pacific Screen Awards ceremony will be held in Brisbane's historic City Hall on Thursday 11 December, with nominees and industry luminaries in attendance.
