Celebrated Iranian filmmaker Seyyed Reza Mirkarimis movie Today has nabbed two awards at the 18th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia.
The film has scooped both FIPRESCI Critics Award and Interfilm Church Prize of the festival.
Today contended for awards with 17 other movies in the international section of the event.
Prominent Iranian actor Parviz Parastouei and the actress Shabnam Moqaddami along with some other cast members star in the film written by Mirkarimi and Shadmehr Rastin,
Iran introduced Reza Mirkarimis Today as its contender at Foreign Language Film Award category of the 87th Academy Award.
The movie has been recently displayed at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada.
Mirkarimis works have been screened in many international events and garnered awards in the Iranian and foreign festivals.
Mirkarimi's dramatic comedy A Cube of Sugar had been also selected as the Iranian entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards in 2013, but the film due to a sudden decision of Irans culture ministry was not submitted.
