Iran's finance minister confers with Afghan, Iraqi counterparts

Tehran, Nov 29, IRNA -- Finance Minister Ali Tayyebnia conferred with Afghani finance minister and Iraqi minister of trade on the sidelines of the 30th Meeting of Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul.
Tayyebnia said that Iran's policy regarding Iraq is based on promoting ties and that Iran favors development of democracy in the neighboring state.
Referring to Iran's willingness to step up economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries, he called for boosting all-out ties in the political and economic fields.

Tayyebnia contended that enhancement of brotherly ties will secure peace, security, welfare and stability of the regional nations, saying that good neighborly relations and cultural and religious affinities will help promote bilateral ties.

In view of Iran's capabilities, high technical and engineering capacities as well as the private sector's interest to invest in Iraq, the minister urged implementation of agreement of avoiding double taxation.

Iraqi trade minister, for his part, appreciated Tayyebnia's efforts to promote cooperation and bilateral ties.

Meanwhile, in a meeting with Afghan Finance Minister Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal, Tayyebnia congratulated the successful presidential elections in Afghanistan, saying that Iran favors implementation of agreements supporting investment and customs cooperation.

For his part, Arghandival called for continuation of Iran's assistance to the Afghan reconstruction and progress.
