Tehran, Nov 29, IRNA - The 18th Congress of Iranian Society of Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation & Electrodiagnosis was held at Tehrans Shahid Beheshti Medical University during November 26 to 28.
Dr. Ahmad Raeis-Sadat, the head of the society, said Iran needs 2,000 physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists, while 400 specialists are active in the field.
He added that the secretariat of the annual event received 400 articles.
Distinguished experts from the US, France and Germany, including Professor Jianan Li, MD, president of International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM) attended the congress, he said.
Participants gained skills and know-how from experts and exchanged ideas during the congress.
ISPRM serves as the global agency for Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM).
As a non-governmental organization (NGO) recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO), as an international umbrella organization of PRM physicians and as a catalyst for international PRM research, ISPRM
has a humanitarian, societal, professional and scientific mandate.
The mission of ISPRM is to optimize functioning and health-related quality of life and minimize disability in persons throughout the world. It is focused on pursuing the following strategies:
To facilitate PRM in developing countries
To extend qualified training courses and CME programs with certification
