Iran welcomes investment in its tourism sector: Envoy

Berlin, Nov 28, IRNA Iran welcomes investment in its tourism sector, Iran's Ambassador to Germany Ali Majedi said on Friday.
Speaking to a group of German tourism investors and activists, Majedi urged them to invest in Iran as a top tourism destination.
The envoy added that Iran aims to absorb 20 million tourists by 2023.

Iran's tourism industry has experienced 3.4 percent growth in the past six months, Majedi underlined, referring to the change in the country's tourism policies.

Majedi vowed to do his best to pave the way for the rapid growth of Tehran-Berlin economic relations to turn the European nation into Iran's top economic partner.

Majedi went on to say that this objective won't be easy because unlike Japan, there are no major energy ties between Germany and Iran but it is available.

Iran has earned dlrs 5 billion in tourism revenues in the last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2014).

Iran has 10 percent of world tourist sites, its share of revenues should be at least dlrs 100b.
