TEHRAN Nov 26 (Shana)--The injection of processed gas from Phase 12 of South Pars gas into gas trunklines has started, the official in charge of Phase 12 development said.
Rasoul Fallahnejad said sour gas has been pumped out from phases 6-8 of the giant offshore field to the refinery of Phase 12 for treatment.
He said that sweet gas production from Phase 12 has increased by around 14 mcm to reach 50 mcm. Full development of Phase 12 will add 81 mcm/d of sweet gas, 120,000 b/d of gas condensate and 750 tons a day of sulfur to the countrys production.
South Pars covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Irans territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are situated in Qatars territorial waters. The gas field is estimated to contain a significant amount of natural gas, accounting for about eight percent of the worlds reserves, and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate.
