Moscow, Nov 23, IRNA Iran is Russia's most significant partner and developing ties with the country is of strategic importance to Moscow, director of Russia Public Policy Research Center Vladimir Yevseyev said on Sunday.
Yevseyev told a press conference that development of bilateral ties entail strategic interests for both sides.
He said that the two countries are resolute to boost cooperation, and their officials are making efforts to that effect.
Iran and Russia have greater capacities for enhancing bilateral relations, he said.
Yevseyev, who is a colonel and prominent military researcher, stressed the need for the officials to pay attention to development of military and security cooperation.
Admiring Iran's foreign policy, he said, 'President Rouhani is a person with whom we can help enhance bilateral ties.'
The official rejected certain claims over nature of Iran's nuclear program, saying that Iran is no way seeking nuclear arms.
On the US and West's unilateral sanctions on Iran, Yevseyev said that sanctions have nothing to do with the country's nuclear program and are aimed at blocking the Iranian progress and prosperity.
