Tehran, Nov 11, IRNA - Iranian powerlifter Siamand Rahman has been named the Allianz Athlete of the Month for October 2014 after his outshining performance at the Incheon 2014 Asian Para Games in South Korea, it was reported on Tuesday.Rahman received 63.9 percent of the opinion survey votes to finish ahead of his compatriot Iranian shooter Sareh Javanmardi, who bagged 34.3 percent of the votes and ranked second after him.
The worlds strongest paralympian, Rahman, made history at the competition, breaking his own world record three times on his way to gold in the mens over 107kg category.
Over the course of the competition, he added 7kg to his previous best, to finish with a final lift of 292.0kg.
Gambian athletics star Demba Jarju came third, after he became the first wheelchair racer to win the Marathon race.
