WASHINGTON, November 4 (RIA Novosti) - The United States has marked Russia’s constructive role in solving the Iranian nuclear issue, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said during a press briefing on Tuesday.
“So far we have seen that the Russians play a constructive role in those talks, there is no doubt that the talks have benefited from constructive Russian involvement,” Earnest said.

When responding to the question about effectiveness of sanctions introduced against Russia over the Ukrainian crisis, Earnest said that although some differences in the views of Moscow and Washington on certain situations remain, “I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that there are other spheres where the US and Russia continue to cooperate very effectively in a way that enhances national security of both the US and Russia”.

Earnest also marked positive cooperation between Moscow and Washington in the space program development and in the efforts to eradicate Syria’s chemical weapons stockpile.

In November 2013, during the talks held in Geneva, the P5+1 group of international mediators comprising Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China, and Germany agreed to reach a deal with the Tehran delegation guaranteeing the peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program by July 2014. The deadline for the agreement was later postponed to November 2014.
