Petrochemical exports up by 7%

Tehran, Oct 18 IRNA Production Manager of the National Iranian Petrochemical Company (NIPC) said in the first half of the current year petrochemical exports increased by 14% in terms of weight and 7% in terms of value as compared to the same period last year.
Ali Mohammad Basaqzadeh further remarked that production of petrochemical substances in the first half of the current year (started on March 21) was 4% more than the same period last year.
He pointed to the export limitation of some substances such as LPG, methanol and MEG as well as repair works on some petrochemical complexes as the main reasons for the increase in production and export of petrochemical products.

Announcing that production capacity of petrochemical products in the country has exceeded 60 million tons per year, Basaqzadeh said plans are underway to double the figure by the year 1404 (2025).

Pointing to the expansion of economic ties between Iran and Romania, he said in the past steel and industrial parts were imported from Romania and in return petrochemical products and foodstuff were exported to that country. He said export of such commodities is due to be increased.
