Iran blasts deadly bomb attack in Iraq

Iran has strongly condemned Tuesdays bomb attack in a Shia neighborhood of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, which killed at least 21 people, including a lawmaker.
Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham on Wednesday denounced the terrorist attack and offered Irans condolences to the Iraqi government, nation and parliament.

The Iranian official also underlined the need for serious fight against terrorism in the Middle East.

The deadly bomb attack happened at a checkpoint in Baghdads Shia neighborhood of Kadhimiyah. At least 21 people, including Iraqi lawmaker Ahmed al-Khafaji, were killed in the attack. More than 50 others suffered injuries.

Iraq has been witnessing deadly bombings over the past few days.

On Monday, at least 43 people were killed in three bomb attacks in mainly Shia Muslim areas of Baghdad. Many other people were also injured by the three explosions.

Iraq is currently witnessing a wave of violence unprecedented in recent years. The overall security situation in the Arab country has also worsened over the past months after the Takfiri terrorists of the ISIL, of whom many are foreign militants, took control of parts of Iraqs northern and western regions.

According to the UN, more than 1,110 people were killed in acts of violence across Iraq in September.
