Ilam, Oct 10, IRNA Excavation of 30 to 35 thousand barrels per day from Azar oil fields, in Iranian western Ilam provinces Azar oil fields in Mehran border city will begin 11 months from now, earlier than scheduled, Oil Minister Bizahn Namdar Zangeneh said here Thursday.
Countrys daily oil production will increase 65,000 BPD after completing the development project of this oil field, Zangeneh told IRNA on the sidelines of his visit of Azar oil fields.
He said that the project is being implemented by Iranian contractor companies based on a buy-back deal worth over one billion dollars.
The oil minister said that there are five derricks functioning in Azar fields now, having drilled five wells and the rest of them, too, will be drilled later gradually.
He said that the produced natural gas from those wells will be transferred to the petrochemical plants in Dehloran, in the south.
Azar oil fields, in Anaran block, are one of the toughest Iranian oil and gas field from the viewpoint of drilling and one of the most challenging for the oil industry due to the land stony conditions.
The volume of possible oil reserves to be excavated from Azar fields is estimate to be around 400 million barrels.
Irans Mehran City on eastern side of Iran-Iraq border with its 30,000 population is on the southwest side of Ilam province and is among the oil rich parts of the province.
