TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Karateka Amir Mahdizadeh claimed Irans 19th gold medal in the 2014 Asian Games on Friday.
Mahdizadeh defeated Rahman Tayel Hayel Almastafa Abdel from Jordan 6-3 at the Gyeyang Gymnasium in Incheon, South Korea.
I promised my wife to win the gold medal and I dedicate my medal to her. My Jordanian opponent was very strong but I could manage him, Mahdizadeh said.
Iranian athletes had already won 18 gold medals in the games.
