Countering Takfiri threat, Hezbollah’s priority: Nasrallah

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Countering the threat of Takfiri terrorists and safeguarding Lebanon against the spillover of violence are among Hezbollah’s top priorities, secretary general of the Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement said.
“Hezbollah’s priority in the sphere of countering threats is (battling) Takfiri terrorism, preventing the spillover of unrest and insecurity into Lebanon as well as maintaining and bolstering stability and national unity of the country,” Seyed Hassan Nasrallah said.

He made the comments in a meeting with Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani in Beirut on Tuesday.

Nasrallah also praised the Islamic Republic for its continuous support for the anti-Israeli resistance movement and its contribution to the fight against terrorism.

Without directly naming the US which has formed a coalition to destroy the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group, Nasrallah added, “Countering the growing threat of Takfiri terrorism requires genuine action and avoidance of double standards and suspicious behavior.”

Shamkhani, for his part, hailed Hezbollah as a balancing factor in Lebanon’s political and security arenas, saying the Arab nation will be always grateful to Hezbollah for its “pre-emptive battle” against the threat of Takfiri terrorists.

Over the past months, Lebanon has been dealing with the threat posed by terrorists affiliated with the al-Qaeda who are believed to have infiltrated into Lebanon from crisis-ridden Syria.
