TEHRAN Sept 30 (Shana)--Irans Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI) is involved in the development of nanotechnology-based methods, the head of nanotechnology development group of RIPI said.
Ali-Morad Rashidi said Petroleum Ministry has established a nanotechnology network in order to follow up on prioritized nano projects in the petroleum industry. He said that nano-technology is used for reducing pollution, indigenizing products through reserve engineering and commercializing products and services. Rashidi said the RIPI is currently producing more than 300 kilograms of nano-structure from normal oxides.
He said 20 to 100 kilograms of carbon nanotubes are being produced, adding that a private company has accepted to raise the production to 180 tons a year.
Rashidi said rival companies are producing 250 to 400 tons a year of carbon nano-tubes.
