QAZVIN, Oct. 01 (MNA) Qazvin provincial governor has signed deal with Irans Atomic Energy Organization and IKIU to establish an industrial irradiation center.
Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of the Organization , who was in his day-visit to the province, Hossein Khalafi, his deputy for Irradiation Applications, Ayoub Rahimi and Manuchehr Habibi, the governors construction and political-security deputies, respectively, and Seyed Abolhassan Naeini, the head of Imam Khomeini International University (IKIU) signed the memorandum.
The establishment of irradiation center also will install and operate Industrial Acceleration Center with a power of 100kW and 10mev (Mega-electron volt).
The facility will reportedly significantly help save in expenses including costs of imported facilities in addition to advantage of technology adoption by indigenous experts. The foreign model costs $ 12-15mn to import. Among the applications of the unit are production of hi-tech materials through irradiation of industrial polymer products and sterilization of disposable medical equipments, and decontamination of agricultural products.
The facility will also improve the IKIU capabilities in terms of education and research as well as promoting the public health in the province.
