A senior Iranian commander says the Islamic Republic has attained self-sufficiency in manufacturing military equipment, including state-of-the-art missiles and radar systems.
The most advanced radars, missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and tanks are produced in the country, said Commander of the Aerospace Division of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh on Saturday.
He added that Iran has made military achievements despite US-led sanctions against the country.
In recent years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.
On September 23, Iran unveiled its first indigenous UAV armed with air defense missiles, which is suitable for aerial combats.
The drone is capable of destroying various flying aircraft including fighter jets, unmanned aerial vehicles and helicopters, Irans Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said.
Earlier this month, Iran also unveiled two indigenous state-of-the-art radar systems dubbed Arash-2 and Kayhan, which are capable of detecting stealth aircraft and long-distance targets.
In recent years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.
The Islamic Republic also conducts several military drills to enhance the defense capabilities of its military and to test modern military tactics and equipment.
Iran has repeatedly said that its military might poses no threat to other countries, reiterating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
