Tehran, Sept 25, IRNA Deputy oil minister for petrochemical affairs said on Thursday that petrochemical products account for over 40 percent of Iranian non-oil exports.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Ninth International Iran plast Exhibition, Abbas She'ri-Moqaddam said that the ninth edition of the exhibition is being held at a time when rationality prevails over the country.
He further noted that petrochemical industries have so far consumed only five percent of the country's hydrocarbures whether oil and gas and have produced more than 40 million tons of products.
Currently, over 30,000 production units are affiliated to petrochemical industries, raw materials of which are supplied by petrochemical outputs from Assalouyeh and Mahshahr, the official said.
She'ri-Moqaddam further noted that auto industry, aerospace industries, medical and foodstuffs industries, packaging industries, house appliances and tire and plastics are all dependent on petrochemical industries.
He stated that the country's production capacity in the field is 60 million tons at present, which will be materialized following removal of sanctions.
