Meeting with Obama not on President Rouhani's NY agenda: Spokesman

Tehran, Sept 24, IRNA Government Spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht on Wednesday said meeting with the US President Barack Obama is not included in President Hassan Rouhani's agenda during his stay in New York.


 
The Iranian president arrived in New York on September 22 to attend the 69th session of the UN General Assembly. He is to address the UNGA on Thursday morning as the second speaker.


Nobakht expressed hope that President Rouhani's visit will end in success.

On Tuesday, President Rouhani addressed UN Climate Summit which was convened with the participation of more that one hundred world leaders.

In addition to his addresses at the Climate Summit and the 69th session of the UNGA, he is scheduled to hold separate meetings with 12 leaders and senior officials of other countries, Nobakht said.

Meeting with presidents of France, Turkey, Austria, Iraq and Venezuela as well as prime ministers of Japan, Britain, Georgia and Lebanon are also included in President Rouhani's New York agenda, he added.

President Rouhani conferred latest regional and international developments with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an and Austrian President Heinz Fischer on Tuesday.

British Prime Minister David Cameron, French President Franois Hollande and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier also met with the Iranian president on the sidelines of the high-profile global conference.

Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, is also to meet with President Rouhani.
