Tehran, Sept 23, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday that Iran considers Japan as a friend.
The president made the remarks in a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly Summit.
Rouhani said Iran invites Japan to have more active role in Iranian market.
The President underlined Iran-Japan cooperation in environment protection, especially in management of the water shortage.
Renewing invitation to Shinzo Abe to visit Iran, Rouhani called for regular consultations between Iranian and Japanese foreign ministers on regional issues, especially on the international campaign against terrorism.
Abe for his part invited President Rouhani to take part in a Conference on the Environment and Crisis Management to be held in Japan in March.
