TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif who is New York to attend the UN General Assembly had a tight schedule on Monday which included a plenty of high-profile meetings with foreign counterparts and international figures.
On Monday, the Iranian foreign minister held separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Britain, Iceland, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
He also met with Iyad Madani, the secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
World leaders are gathering in New York to attend the 69th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has announced that more than 140 heads of state or government will attend the 193-nation assemblys annual "general debate", which begins on Wednesday and ends September 30.
On September 19, the New York Times acknowledged in a report that Iranians are clearly doing far better in public diplomacy in New York than are the United States or its allies.
It also praised Foreign Minister Zarif as diplomat with media savvy that has given interviews to several media outlets and attended several gatherings during his stay in New York.
