US policies behind emergence of Takfiri militants: Iran deputy FM

Wrong policies adopted by the United States and some of its European allies are the main reason behind the emergence of Takfiri militant groups in the region, a senior Iranian official says.
In a Thursday meeting with Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe in Harare, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affaires Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said wrong policies taken by the US and some European states led to the creation of Takfiri groups that are currently wreaking havoc on Middle Eastern and African countries.

The Iranian diplomat also called on the international community to take collective action to deal with the crisis fueled by Takfiri terrorists.

Amir-Abdollahian further emphasized the importance of constructive cooperation between Tehran and Harare, expressing hope that Zimbabwe would manage to overcome the challenges it faces by relying on domestic capabilities.

The Zimbabwean president, in turn, pointed to the latest international developments and slammed Washingtons meddling in the internal affairs of other countries, including Iraq and Libya.

Elsewhere in his comments, Mugabe reaffirmed his support for the Islamic Republics right to take advantage of peaceful nuclear technology.

The Zimbabwean leader also hailed friendly relations between Iran and Zimbabwe, calling for the further enhancement of Tehran-Harare ties in political and economic fields.

Mugabe also called on Iranian tradesmen and investors to play a more active role in Zimbabwes economic sector.
