Dushanbe, Sept 10, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday morning arrived in Tajikistan to attend the 14th summit meeting of the of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
President Rouhani departed Astana for Dushanbe on Wednesday morning on the second leg of his five day regional tour.
He is accompanied by a high-ranking political and economic delegation, including a number of cabinet members. It was the first visit to Kazakhstan of President Rouhani since he took office in August 2013.
President Rouhani had a two day visit to Kazakhstan which resulted in the signing of a number of cooperation agreements in various fields including transportation and trade.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization or SCO is a Eurasian inter-governmental organization which was founded in 2001 in Shanghai by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The Organization currently has six full members. Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, and India are observer states and SCOs dialogue partners include Belarus, Sri Lanka, and Turkey.
