TEHRAN (Tasnim) Irans second consignment of humanitarian aid has been delivered to the people of Iraqs semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, an official with the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) said.
Hassan Esfandiar, deputy director of the IRCSs International Relations Department, said the consignment weighs 260 tons and consists of food, blankets, tents, etc.
He said Irans humanitarian aid is being distributed among the Kurdish refugees who have fled from areas invaded by the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group.
Since early this year, Iraq has been facing a growing militancy by the Takfiri ISIL terrorist group and its allied militants, who have taken over areas in the countrys west and north. The crisis has deteriorated since June, when the ISIL declared a so-called caliphate in the territories they have seized.
The ISIL terrorists have also threatened other communities, including Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, and others, in Iraq.
They have been committing heinous crimes in the areas they have taken, including the mass execution of civilians as well as Iraqi army troops and officers.
