"They already have a delivery system and 400 missiles ready for nuclear warheads," said Ya'alon in an exclusive audio interview.
Minister of Strategic Affairs and Vice Prime Minister Moshe Ya'alon spoke about Iran's nuclear ambitionsin an exclusive interview on Arutz Sheva's Reality Bytes podcast.
"There is confusion regarding the red lines and the clocks. It is more of a technological clock ratherthen a chronological clock," the former top general stated. "On one hand, the bad news is, in myassessment, it's now a matter of 12 to 18 months" until Iran acquires all it needs to bomb othercountries, as it has threatened.
"But there are some obstacles," Yaalon asserted, "such as viruses and explosions." But the threat ofMahmoud Ahmadinejad's regime continues, he said.
"Recently they decided to take part of the enriched uranium and use it for civilian use. But there isno doubt that the Iranian regime is determined to acquire military nuclear capability. They alreadyhave a delivery system. They have 400 missiles ready for nuclear warheads. When it comes to theenrichment process, they already have tons of enriched uranium which means they can produce five to sixbombs," Yaalon commented.
A veteran of the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Yaalon served in the elite paratroopers unit, was head of military intelligence and eventually becan the Israel Defense Force Chief-of-Staff from 2002 - 2005. His term of service came to an end during the dawn of the unilateral Disengagement plan which removed all Israeli and Jewish civilian and military presence from Gaza in 2005.
Regarding the rocket attacks on Israel's south from Gaza based terrorists, Minister Yaalon stated,"this is another example of the Iranian regime acting as the main instigator of instability in theMiddle East."
He used Afghanistan as an example stating, "without any connection to Israel, the Iranian regimesupports certain elements there with weapons and training. This is the case in Iraq, Bahrain, Yemen andin Syria where they support President Bashar Assad. They are determined to acquire hegemony at thisstage even without nuclear capability. Just imagine what might happen all over the world if they, G-dforbid, might acquire nuclear capabilities."
He concluded by stating, "The best defense is a good offense."
