Petchems make up 40% of Iran non-oil exports
TEHRAN August 10 (Shana)--Petrochemical products account for more than 40 percent of Irans non-oil products, a deputy head of National Petrochemical Company said.
Mohammad-Hassan Peyvandi said Iran enjoys the highest potentials for the development of petrochemical industries.

No country in the world and the Middle East enjoys as many advantages as Iran like feedstock, specialized manpower, engineering services, domestic manufacturing, access to export markets, etc, he said.

Peyvandi said 30,000 manufacturing units in Iran depend on petrochemical plants, adding that they are fed by Assaluyeh and Mahshahr petrochemical plants.
As long as we do not invest in the upstream sector we will not be able to develop the downstream sector, he said.
Irans trade transactions have increased by nearly 7.5 billion dollars during the first four months of the current calendar year which started on March 21, customs data shows.
The data showed Irans non-oil exports were 21 percent more than last years 17 billion dollars.
The main non-oil products exported abroad include liquefied propane, methanol and butane. The products were exported to China, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan and Turkey.

Irans exports to China were up 32 percent and exports to Turkey were up 31 percent year-on-year.
