Deadly aggression on Gaza forces Indian Muslims to continue protests
New Delhi, Aug 5, IRNA -- Indian Muslims continued to extend solidarity with Palestinians and condemned continued offensive by racist Israel Forces towards Palestine under the funny disguise of self defense.
Expressing their distress towards dreadful killings of inhabitants of Gaza which include hundreds of women and children, Student Islamic Organization (SIO) and its women wing GIO protested against Israel in the Bhikku Square of Malegaon in Maharashtra state, the TCN reported.
Initially the SIO applied for permission to local police for organizing protest but their request was turned down. Police objection did not halt the protest as they continued to display their anger towards Israel through a peaceful demonstration which was attended by many including students, members of SIO and girls belonging to GIO.

During the protest the SIO expressed its three demands from the Government of India: That the ruling government passes a resolution in the parliament condemning Israels ongoing war over Palestinian people. That the government would severe diplomatic ties with Israel. That the government would help the Palestinian displaced people currently living in refugee camps of the Persian Gulf countries in returning to their home land.

Addressing the protesters, Feroz Azmi, In charge of local unit of the SIO, said, We appeal to the Government of India to immediately change its external affairs policy towards Israel and address the Indian Muslims? concerns for the civilians? killing in Gaza.

Muzaffar Akhlaq, a senior member of the SIO from Bhusawal termed Israel as an occupier of Palestine and said, Israel first occupied Arab land and is now killing women and children in its discrete bombarding towards Gaza which is barbaric and we must condemn it at every level.

Earlier, on Sunday evening, a newly emerged political party, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organized a candlelight vigil, to express solidarity with the Gaza victims, at Jantar Mantar in Central Delhi.

Meanwhile, as the Israeli aggression continued in Gaza, the outrage of Indian people, irrespective of age, gender and religion, continued across the country.

Under the banner of, religious organizations, civil societies, NGOs and student organizations, tens of thousands of people, including women and children, from Delhi to Mumbai, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Bihar, Kashmir, etc., continued protests, outside the Israeli Embassy and Consulates, denouncing the invasion of Gaza by the Israeli forces and expressed solidarity with the defenseless Palestinians, trapped in the tiny strip of land. Carrying banners and play cards, depicting slogans against Israel, the UN and the US, they drew the attention of every passerby, against the genocide perpetrated by the usurper Israeli regime, encouraged by the world bodys silence and backed by the thoughtless Obama administration.

India has always been standing behind the Palestinian people. India has traditionally been supporting the Palestinian people. Right from the time of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru.

Father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi had said: Palestine belongs to the Arabs in the same sense that England belongs to the English or France to the French. It is wrong and inhuman to impose the Jews on the Arabs... Surely it would be a crime against humanity to reduce the proud Arabs so that Palestine can be restored to the Jews partly or wholly as their national home.

In 1947, India voted against the partition of Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly. India was the first Non-Arab State to recognize the PLO as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people in 1974. India was also one of the first countries to recognize the State of Palestine in 1988. In 1996, India opened its Representative Office to the Palestine Authority in Gaza, which later was shifted to Ramallah in 2003. India always played a proactive role in garnering support for the Palestinian cause in multilateral fora. Despite these facts, the present BJP Government is reluctant in condemning the Israeli assaults on Gaza.

The Gaza Strip is the most populated area in the Earth located in a 360 sq. KMs radius with 1.8 million people.

As reported. the continued Israeli aggression, which entered its 28-day on Monday, has claimed lives of nearing 2000 innocent Palestinians, including 398 children, 207 women and 74 elderly people. More than 9000 people have been wounded.
