Rouhani: Iran favors close, strategic ties with Latin America
Tehran, Aug 4, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that for Iran, close and strategic relations with all the independent Latin American states like Venezuela, that are resisting US hegemony is of high significance.
President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Elas Jos Jaua Milano on the sidelines of the emergency meeting of NAM on Gaza.
?The Government of Prudence and Hope is determined to expand ties between the two friendly countries in all spheres.?

Lauding Venezuela?s very good stance on regional issues like Palestine, Syria and Iraq and also the Venezuelan government?s positive stance on terrorism campaign, President Rouhani said independent states should get united against crimes and terrorism.

?In all countries, where terror and aggression exist, unfortunately, aggressors and terrorists are supported by big powers and global arrogance.

?All should get united against the enemies? conspiracies and join hands, not to let them to pile up pressure on the developing nations. Of course, the developing nations and governments will emerge the ultimate winner in the face of powers that intend to interfere in their internal affairs.?

Rouhani said that the decision by late Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez to cut off ties with the Zionist regime was ?very valuable?.

?We are happy that Venezuelan President Mr. Nicolas Maduro will continue with the path of Hugo Chavez.?

Milano, for his part, conveyed warm greetings of his president to President Rouhani for hosting the Palestine emergency conference and hoped that bilateral ties and cooperation will be in line with interests of the two governments.

He said, ?Today, we are more than ever in need of standing by each other to fight and resist global imperialism.?

He said Venezuela supports any initiative by the Islamic Republic of Iran about the regional issues, including Syria, Iraq and Palestine, getting fully united with Iran.

Referring to Tehran-Caracas joint economic commission scheduled to be held in September, he hoped for further expansion of mutual cooperation.
