TEHRAN (FNA)- Deputy Head of the Iranian Judiciary Mohammad Javad Larijani deplored the inhumane attacks of the Zionist regime against the Palestinians, and said Tehran has launched a legal pursuit into the Israeli war crimes in Gaza."The diplomatic apparatus and the Judiciary have been pursuing the issue legally with all their power," Larijani told reporters on the sidelines of an emergency meeting of the foreign ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Palestine Committee held in Tehran on Monday to discuss the aggravating conditions of people in the Gaza Strip.
"The Zionist regime has not only martyred numerous women and children during its aggression against Gaza but also used Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) which can be pursued as a war crime," he added.
Larijani also said that the siege imposed by the Israeli regime on Gaza since several years ago sets another instance of the inhumane actions of Tel Aviv, stressing that the siege should be removed.
Senior Iranian legislators on Sunday called on the government to file a legal complaint with the international courts to prosecute Israel for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
"Iran should pursue judicial prosecution of Israel at the international courts and the setting up of a UN fact-finding commission," Chairman of the parliament's Human Rights Faction Ezzatollah Yousefian Molla said.
Stressing that the UN can put the Zionist leaders on trial for their crimes against humanity, he expressed regret that the pressures of the governments supporting Tel Aviv have blocked arrangement of such war tribunals in the past 60 years.
Also, member of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Ahmad Shohani condemned the Zionist regime's war crimes against the Gaza people, and said Israel is committing genocide in Gaza and has violated the international conventions by using unconventional weapons.
Israeli warplanes have been pounding numerous sites in the Gaza Strip since July 8, demolishing houses and burying families under the rubble. Israeli forces also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian land on July 17.
The Palestinian death toll in Israels onslaught on Gaza has now reached nearly 1,822, with over 10,000 people injured. Most of the casualties have been civilians, including a large number of women and children.
Meantime, over 520,000 of Gazans, nearly one out of four, have been displaced as a result of the recent aggressions made by Israeli forces against the besieged enclave.
