Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the Tel Aviv regime is committing genocide in the Gaza Strip, calling for Israeli leaders and their supporters to be tried for their crimes.
In a Tuesday address to a large crowd of worshipers attending the Eid al-Fitr prayers at Tehrans Imam Khomeini Grand Prayer Grounds, Ayatollah Khamenei described the crimes perpetrated by Israeli leaders against Gazans as genocide and a huge historical catastrophe.
Both the [Israeli] criminals and their arrogant backers must be condemned and tried at the international level, Ayatollah Khamenei stated.
The Leader also praised the unique resistance of people in Gaza in the face of Israeli atrocities, saying the international community, particularly the Muslim world, is duty-bound to arm the Palestinian nation as much as it can.
Ayatollah Khamenei further said the Israeli regime is regretful about starting a new military offensive against Gaza, saying Tel Avivs European and US backers seek to impose a ceasefire on the Palestinians in an attempt to save the Zionist regime.
In similar comments on July 23, the Leader said armed resistance by Palestinians was the only way to confront the Zionist regime of Israel, adding that a referendum in the region would put an end to the regime.
Over 1,100 Palestinians have so far been killed and nearly 6,500 others have been wounded since the beginning of brutal Israeli raids on Gaza on July 8.
Palestinian resistance fighters have also responded to Israeli attacks by firing a barrage of rockets deep into the Israeli occupied Palestinian territory.
