FMs of NAM Palestine Committee due in Tehran next week: FM spokeswoman

Tehran, July 27, IRNA - Foreign ministers of the Palestine Committee of the Non-Aligned Movement will hold an emergency meeting on Gaza in Tehran next week, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Sunday.
Afkham told IRNA that UN envoys of member states of the NAM Palestine Committee already held emergency meeting on Gaza fighting at UN headquarters in New York, following a call by the Iranian ambassador to the United Nations.
During the meeting in New York, it was agreed that the foreign ministers of the NAM Palestine Committee to convene a one-day emergency meeting in Tehran to adopt necessary plans to alleviate sufferings of innocent people of Gaza as a result of the Israeli offensive on the besieged Palestinian district.

Following the outbreak of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, President Hassan Rouhani as the incumbent chair of the Non-Aligned Movement commissioned the Foreign Ministry to make every effort to put an end to Israeli aggression, Afkham said.

She said that over the past 10 days, urgent meetings and intensive talks have been held in New York to examine how the NAM could help end the human tragedy.

Algeria, Bangladesh, Cuba, Egypt, India, Senegal, South Africa, Zambia, Palestine, Zimbabwe, Indonesia and Malaysia comprise the member states of the Palestine Committee of the Non-Aligned Movement.
